Many Nigerians have endured painfully long lines for gasoline and power failures that last for days — with no fuel for backup generators. Everyday items are missing from stores, and those things that remain cost more than usual.
Meanwhile, limited power means water cuts for that people who rely on electricity to pump water to their homes. The economic unraveling is having an outsize impact on Nigeria’s expanding middle class, which has become accustomed to air-conditioning, car ownership and Domino’s pizza.
