Ex Miss Anambra opens up on sex tape saga!

Since the story of her sex video broke a few weeks ago, several groups have come forward with different versions of what transpired between the embattled 20-year-old beauty queen and the organisers of the pageant : But after weeks of keeping quiet, Miss Okeke has finally broken her silence. In an exclusive interview with The Nation : she said: “Early last year, the ABS advertised for the Miss Anambra beauty pageant. I heard of it and went to make enquiry : My roommate was also interested, but one of the organisers told me to apply. I told them I was not interested but the man insisted that I might win the competition. He also promised to give me the form for free if I indicated interest, and he did when I agreed to contest : But one Jane told me that before a winner would be declared, there were certain things to be done, including the (sex) video. I consented after some persuasion from the organisers. I later went for the contest at the Marble Arch Hotels in Awka, and I was declared winner with a Kia Rio vehicle as star prize :
When I went for my car after the contest, the organisers brought out a contract form for me to sign, but I told them I wanted to contact my lawyer to see it. I was not given the opportunity to do so : What they kept telling me was that if I insisted on not signing the contract or wanted to contact my lawyer, they would release the video :
At that point, I became uncomfortable and signed the contract to avoid such embarrassment, and the car was released to me from where it was packed within the premises of ABS : From that moment, I became a slave to them. On October 11, 2016, they called me to come and make presentations inside the office of one the organisers. After that, the man excused some people in that room and showed me the video again :
They told me to drop my car and removed my crown from me. I told them I would take the car as stipulated in the contract.
They insisted I should pack it in the premises : I told my uncle in Abuja about the situation. they forwarded the video to him as part of the blackmail... More at the blog (link on my bio)"

Actress Foluke Daramola Salako nailed it.

@folukedaramolasalako - Fact File! The Nigerian system of today only celebrate children who can sing and dance. They are the only ones the media and the TV stations are celebrating and organising awards for everyday. Many of our TV programs only celebrate those in the entertainment and sport industries! But, who is celebrating those who can read and write among these children? Who is celebrating those children who are academically interested and serious?! Who is organising awards for those academic super stars in other to celebrate them too? As it seems now, Nobody, except few of our governments! And that is why the interest of many children in academics is acutely dropping! That is why they no longer read! That is why they now fail woefully in academics and they win awards everywhere, dancing and singing. All what an average Nigerian child wants to do now is to sing, rap, dance or play football. This is because nobody celebrates them when they excel academically. One of my students recently told me, 'Sir, all I want to be is an R&B singer so that I can be a super star like Wizkid and co. I don't think I can achieve much reading and reading. Their is so much money singing and dancing in the Nigeria of today. Nigeria celebrates entertainers very well and it gives them so much influence and connections. And sir, who does not want to be celebrated? I want to develop my singing talent so that I can be celebrated too o!', he concluded. The question I am still asking is 'Who is celebrating academic excellence and achievements in the Nigerian child, lest 99% of Nigerians become entertainers one day?! Where are those award events for those schools, teachers and students that are doing well? Students no longer want to read because the system is not encouraging them. I know a student who can recite the lyrics of all the songs in Niger off hand, but ask him to recite the national anthem or give u an answer to 7*7 he does not know... -kayode Salako is a social wellbeing advocator and a foremost educationist of 26 years in Nigeria.

"Man who killed RCCG pastor’s son in Canada bar, charged with 2nd-degree murder .

Joe Bryan Ndikuriyo, 27, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 21-year-old Solomon Odekunle, an economics student from the University of Ottawa. Solomon was stabbed to death at around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 6. . . In addition to the murder charge, Ndikuriyo, Burundian, was charged with the attempted murder of another person, a friend of Solomon. Solomon, was the 17th victim of homicide in Ottawa since the beginning of 2016. . . News reports suggest that he was stabbed during a fight between Ndikuriyo and another individual over a woman. Solomon, whose father is a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, was admitted to the University of Ottawa in 2012. . . Saturday PUNCH visited his parents’ house at the Rotimi Williams Estate, Fagba Estate, Lagos, on Thursday, a fenced mansion, where a domestic employee explained that Solomon’s father had travelled while the inconsolable mother had relocated temporarily from the house. . . It was later learnt that the father had flown out to Canada after learning of the incident. Solomon’s sister, Deborah, who is also studying in Canada, shared heart-breaking words on Twitter that corroborated words of Solomon’s friends, who described him as a meek and funny young man. . . According to her, she saw him last a week before the incident. She said, “If I did know it would be your last, I would have given you more than a fist bump. I would have gotten down on my knees and give you the deepest bro-hug. . . If I did know it would be your last, I would have pleaded with the drama leader to allow the rehearsal to linger a little so you and Peter could make us giggle a little more with some frog jump. . .
If I did know it would be your last, I would have treasured those great words you shared with me a couple of months ago in the technical department, have them handwritten with the best calligraphic pens, framed and given to you right after doing those frog jumps.""

"Nigerian lawyers seek £1m from Oxford Varsity‎ for ‘wrong definition’

Some Nigerian lawyers are seeking one million pounds from the University of Oxford, over alleged wrong definition of the words “Mortgagee and Mortgagor," saying the words are as contained in the Oxford mini reference dictionary and Oxford English mini dictionary, Vanguardngr reports. . . The lawyers, Messrs Ogedi Ogu, and Emmanuel Ofoegbu have sent a letter of notice of intention to sue to the Registrar, University of Oxford, Wellington, London.
They are demanding the sum of £1m for the losses they suffered in their transactions, when they relied on the said wrong definition of the words. . . Specifically, the lawyers assert that the Oxford English mini dictionary and the Oxford mini reference dictionary defined the word “Mortgagee” to mean a borrower and the word “Mortgagor to mean a lender. . .
They further assert that the said dictionary definitions are wrongful and misleading as in a Mortgage transaction, the word “Mortgagee” connotes a lender while a “Mortgagor signifies a borrower. . . Consequently, the lawyers are demanding that the University of Oxford pays to them the sum of £1m for the wrong definitions of words in the said dictionaries for which they acted to their own detriment. . . In addition, they demand that the University of Oxford and Oxford University press, issues a world wide notice of the errors complained of within 7 days from the date of the said notice.
The said notice was conveyed to the Registrar of the University of Oxford on November 9, 2016."
