The Zamfara Government has established 251 feeding centres across the state for the feeding of the less privileged during the Ramadan.
The state’s acting governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Wakkala, announced this on Tuesday in a state-wide broadcast.
Wakkala said the centres were set up by the state government in view of the economic hardship being faced by people in the state.
He said adequate balanced diet and good drinking water would be provided at the centres daily for the 30-day fasting period.
According to the acting governor, a committee headed by the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Alhaji Sanusi Rikiji, had been constituted to monitor the exercise.

He said that this was to ensure strict compliance to the expected standard of adequacy and neatness of the menu served.
According to him, more than 27, 000 persons are expected to benefit from the daily feeding.
“While I implore people to support their weak neighbors in this direction, the well-to-do should also join us in feeding the poor and the needy among us,’’ Wakkala said.
He said the exercise commenced on Monday at the start of the Ramadan.
