"Herdsmen kill Redeemed pastor in Kaduna, 8 killed in Zamfara over alleged blasphemy


Barely two days after Kaduna State Governor, el-Rufai, visited Godogodo community, where several people have been killed by suspected herdsmen, Pastor Luka Ubangari of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Ungwa Anjo has been shot dead. . . Ubangari was said to have been ambushed, on Sunday night, shot and killed while returning from an evangelical visit to Golkofa village. Over 3000 people are said to have been killed in Southern Kaduna, since the commencement of night attacks by suspected herdsmen, in 2013. . . Meanwhile, no fewer than 8 persons were, today, killed in Talata-Mafara community in Zamfara State, after violence erupted over alleged blasphemy against Islam by a student of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata-Mafara. . . Governor Yari joined hundreds of people to bury the deceased who were killed when an angry mob set fire on the house of a man who tried to rescue the student. The student was alleged to have made a blasphemous statement against Islam and Prophet Muhammad and was consequently attacked by a mob. . . The boy was said to have been beaten to pulp by the mob, before being rushed to a hospital by one Tajudeen. A witness said, the mob, angered by Tajudeen’s act, moved to his house, set it on fire and killed eight persons.
